Library Renovation: Update

The Long Lake Board of Trustees and the Library Manager would like to thank MidState Industries for the exterior renovation work on the building which the Library is housed. The exterior siding with select windows and doors were removed to improve the energy efficiency and meet (or exceed) federal energy star guidelines.

At this time, 90% of the work has been completed. Much of their equipment have been removed and the crew have temporarily left to begin work on another job. MidStates is waiting for the arrival of additional supplies to complete the work, on the Library, that will include the replacement of the exterior side door, accessed by way of patrons from the designated Library parking spaces, and exterior siding around that door. The construction is expected to continue and be completed in the fall 2021. The reason to the delay in the completion of the last remaining exterior wall and exterior door is to deter any inconvenience to our patrons. This door is heavily accessed by our patrons during the summer months and is the only current door that adheres to ADA compliance.

We thank you for your patience during the renovation process.

We are seeking your input!

The CVW Long Lake Public Library is conducting an anonymous survey to gather feedback from students, Library staff, Friends of the Library, teachers, stakeholders, and our community members. The information collected will provide a baseline roadmap to align the CVW Long Lake Public Library’s goals to set objectives and improve community services.

A strategic plan is a document that sets the goals of the Library to focus on during a multi-year timeframe, usually 3 to 5 years. It is intended to help the Library move towards meeting its overall mission and vision.

Introduction

To ensure our community’s values and vision are reflected in future decision making, the CVW Long Lake Public Library is creating a Strategic Plan. The Library is seeking input on key areas, including the objective, potential actions and services that provide support to our community.

Please provide that input by responding to the 14 (fourteen) questions within this survey. Hard copies are available at the Library and the Post Office.

We thank you for your feedback!

Library Landline

Hello Everyone,

Frontier has fixed the issue with our landline. We can, now, receive phones calls.

Newsletter and Library Budget

The annual newsletter should have made it to your snail mail. However, hard copies are available at the Library. To provide an ease of access to the Library Budget an image of the budget, place within the newsletter, is provided.

Paint with Jessie-Zoom

This Saturday, June 12th at 4 p.m. you can paint this wonderful picture with Jessie!

Send us an email at: lgl-director@sals.edu and we will send you the zoom link.

This painting session is free and virtual. 😍We supply you all the materials for this event that include: 16×20 canvas, paintbrushes, and acrylic paint. 🎨All you need is your inner Picasso (or doodler) and a quiet place to zoom in for the event.

Curbside Pickup

We now offer curbside pickup. As we enter the summer season, it can be difficult allocate time to pop-in and checkout books. So let us help!

Three easy ways to request items for curbside pickup:

1) Call us (518-624-3825) to request item(s) to be checked out,

2) Decide upon what day you want to pick up the item(s) and inform the person on the line of this day,

3) Your item(s) will be placed on a cart or table outside of the library on the day of pickup. No need for entry into the Library.

Voila! Easy P’easy!

Masks and Library Policy

This is a friendly reminder to wear your mask when entering the library building. Masks will continue to be required for everyone–staff, patrons, and visitors when entering the library building until further notice.

Safety of our staff and patrons continues to be our primary goal as we assess the ever evolving recommendations and guidance provided by the CDC, NY Department of Health, NY Department of Labor, our Hamilton County Public Health Department, and Southern Adirondack Library System (SALS) with consideration of the Library‘s current Pandemic Plan Policy (https://longlake.sals.edu/about/).

We thank all of you for your cooperation.

Membership: Friends of the Library

The Friends of the CVW Long Lake Public Library continue, throughout the year, to bring community events to residents and visitors of Long Lake. To become a member of the Friends of the Library, you can fill out an application form included within this post.

Membership: Friends of the Library

Another way to support the Friends of the Library is to purchase a commemorative engraved brick to honor or memorialize a family member or friend. This document is, also, provided within this post. Your brick will also be a lifetime reminder of your support of the Library.
