COVID-19: Libraries and Healthy Communities

Contactless Service continues as we move into Phase 4 of our Reopening Plan

We are now open for our normal fall & winter hours and maintaining contactless service. Library patrons will be allowed to enter the building if they have a mask or face covering on and be allowed to browse our stacks for check out.

Gloves are recommended when handling library materials, and please be aware that our books cannot be easily sterilized because liquids can damage them.  We recommend bringing a bag to carry your materials, and we also have some free bags available to hand out.

For health safety reasons, the children’s area will be closed during Phase 4. Please ask library staff to assist you in retrieving children’s materials. Teen fiction is in the Adult area and will be open for browsing.

Two public computers are now available (30 minute time limit). Additionally, we have four socially distanced tables for seating so that you may use with your personal devices to access wifi inside the library (2 hour time limit). There is also seating outside the library in which you can access the wifi, or you can park behind the library to access the wifi. No password is required to access our public wifi.

To prevent contamination of our copy machine, staff will assist you with photocopies and computer print outs.

Our lovely bathroom will be open. Please wash your hands.

We quarantine materials for 4 days after being returned before they can be returned to circulation.

The Southern Adirondack Library’s holds system is currently up and running. You may start placing holds with your library card through our catalog.

The library has enacted a temporary Safety Policy and Reopening Plan which can be found on our About page here. This document explains more about how the library will be slowly increasing our services over time in accordance with guidelines from local and state safety officials.
