With the assistance of Children’s Author, Bruce Hiscock, participants of this program will learn about owl behavior and have the opportunity to create an owl drawing of their own. This complimentary program designed for children 6 years and older as well as adults and families is an afternoon of fun that shouldn’t be missed.

29th ANNUAL ART SHOW AND SALE
July 21st, 2009During the week of July 20th through July 25th the Friends of the CVW Long Lake Library are once again sponsoring the Annual Art Show and Sale. This is where we bring you an exhibit of the wonderful fine art of local artists. You will be able to view the exhibit at the Long Lake Town Hall between the hours of 11:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. each day. Art works will be available for purchase.
Travel to Vietname with Fran and Gordon Fisher
July 21st, 2009July 24th at 7:00 p.m. — This is the time for a wonderful slide show presentation and discussion of Fran and Gordon Fisher’s recent travel experience to Vietnam. The program will be held at and is sponsored by the Cornelius Vanderbilt Whitney Long Lake Library.

CVW Long Lake Library Sponsors “Shakespeare in the Adirondack Park”, Sunday, July 26, 2009
July 16th, 2009A Midsummer’s Night’s Dream, Shakespeare’s classic comedic play given an Adirondack twist will be presented by The Adirondack Lakes Center for the Arts on Sunday, July 26 at 7:00 p. m. The production will take place at the town ball field in Long Lake. Come and join in on the fun.

DAVID LEVY ON COMETS, Lecture and Book Signing
July 16th, 2009On July 23, 2009 at 6:00 p.m. at The Wild Center Flammer Theatre in Tupper Lake David H. Levy will give an exciting talk on Shoemaker-Levy 9, the comet that collided with Jupiter in 1994. There will be also a book signing at that time.

“Journey into American Roots Music” Summer Concert Friday, July 17th
July 12th, 2009Please join us on Friday, July 17th when well known artists Tom Atstens and Neil Rossi will present their “Journey into American Roots Music” program at Long Lake Town Hall. These two talented musicians have been playing together since 1963. Inspired by old blues and ballads you’ll hear echoes of many great musicians including The Monroe Brothers, Hank Williams, Uncle Dave Macon, Pink Anderson, Mother Maybelle Carter, Doc Watson and more.
The concert which begins at 7:00 p.m is sponsored by the Cornelius Vanderbilt Whitney Long Lake Library. The doors will open at 6:30 p.m. There is no charge for this event.
ENGRAVED BRICKS FUNDRAISER
June 23rd, 2008The Friends of the Long Lake Library (FLLL) are sponsoring a new fundraiser!
We will be installing a walkway on the Library’s grounds that will include custom engraved bricks that you can buy to honor or memorialize someone or an event. Each brick will have up to 3 lines, and 20 spaces each in Book Antiqua font. The first phase of this walkway plan will include 150 customized bricks. We are hoping to construct the path in the fall of 2008.
